LEC Technology Components
The platform LEC technology consists of three distinct components: LEC panels, proprietary power source (“inverter”) technology and the lighting element construction and layering configuration or “standard packaging” process.
LEC Panels
CeeLite® LEC panels incorporate closely-held, proprietary trade secret information and proprietary knowledge that distinguish CeeLite LEC panels from other lighting options. CeeLite LEC panels provide brighter sources of light with longer life through higher sustainable operating voltages and provide uniform illumination across the LEC panel’s surface.
LEC panels are thin, lightweight light sources that may be used on flat or curved surfaces to illuminate the surface itself and, in conjunction with graphics or films, to provide illuminated advertising, signs and architectural surfaces. CeeLite’s LEC panels range in size from one square inch to as large as 18 square feet and are manufactured in Taiwan. The CeeLite Taiwanese manufacturing facility has been certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and meets Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and IECQ (green) requirements.
CeeLite LEC panels are manufactured in a screen-printing process that deposits layers of electrodes, phosphors and dielectrics to create an LEC. The following diagram illustrates the various layers that comprise CeeLite LEC panels:

Inverter Technology and Control Devices
CeeLite designs and manufactures proprietary inverters (AC or DC power source depending on application) for LEC panels. The proprietary Flatline Inverter™ design includes electronics that power the LEC panels to provide a relatively constant light output and optimize the LEC panel’s life. The Flatline Inverters are programmable with proprietary software that enables an LEC panel to fade and flash, and also provides brightness control. Such controls can be provided as standard features. The proprietary inverter designs also include unique safety features well suited for a number of applications.
CeeLite also provides a variety of control devices to be used with the Flatline Inverters™ in different applications. These control devices coordinate and provide sequenced effects over multiple LEC panels, fade-in/fade-out/flash effect for a single LEC panel and support motion sensors and photo sensors.
Standard Packaging Process
CeeLite LEC Panels are produced with transparent and moisture-proof packaging or “protective laminates.” These protective laminates protect the LEC Panels from moisture, humidity and other environmental conditions that negatively impact phosphor performance and enable handling of the LEC Panels.
The standard packaging can be configured in flexible, semi-rigid and rigid forms, depending on the application. When used only with protective laminates, the LEC panels are flexible. To provide structural rigidity, CeeLite can encapsulate the LEC Panels in a licensed co-polyester material (Eastman Encapsulation Technology™) that also protects against the elements for use in outdoor applications, while maintaining a high translucency. Sheets of a polycarbonate or acrylic materials may also be used to provide structural rigidity to the LEC Panels for indoor or less severe environmental conditions.
